SELCRA and Brighton Area Schools are teaming up to provide after school recreation opportunities to all 5th through 8th grade students. Participants will have the option to choose from a variety of sports and activities that will allow students to have fun in a safe environment after school. Qualified instructors will help students improve their skills and abilities while helping to promote healthy and active lifestyles.
SELCRA has had great success with its Maltby Dog Pound After School Program, and has decided offer after school activities at Scranton Middle School as well.

Dog Pound Session #3 Course Descriptions
Full Session - Students will attend the after school program everyday for the entirety of the session. They will choose which sport they would like to participate in on a daily basis. If a full session student would like to participate in an off-site program they must commit to that program for the entirety of the session.
Tennis - Students will learn the basics of the game of tennis. They will learn the rules of the game along with the necessary techniques to play. Participants will engage in a mixture of drills and games to help them learn and have fun. Tennis will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
Cross Country - Participants will run mostly indoors, but will go outside weather permitting. They will enjoy running games and activities that will help them enjoy staying healthy and active. This program will be held in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby by 6P.
Outdoor Adventure - Students will be taken to the Huron Meadows Metropark (8765 Hammel Rd. Brighton, MI) by LETS Bus. They will be instructed my members of the Heavner nature connection in a variety of winter based activities. The activities may include: ice fishing, snow shoeing, tracking, fire and shelter building, and much more! Students must be picked up directly from the park no later than 6p. Bundle up for some fun!
Open Sports - Students will play backyard style sports on a daily basis. Including baseball/softball, football, hockey, basketball, and more! This course allows participants to exercise and stay healthy while having fun and playing their favorite sports with friends. Open Sports will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
Volleyball - Students will bump, set, and spike their way to becoming better volleyball players. Participants will practice and learn the basics of volleyball while having fun with their friends. They will practice drills, scrimmage, and play games. Volleyball will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
Archery - Students will be taught by USA Archery Level 4 National coach Mike Wisser. They will learn the basics of archery while working on concentration, self-discipline, self-esteem, and hand-eye coordination. Archery will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
Boys Lacrosse - This program is led by member of the Brighton Boys Lacrosse program. Students will learn the basics of boys lacrosse while engaging in drills, scrimmages, and games. They will work to improve hand-eye coordination as well as discipline. Participants MUST provide their own lacrosse stick. Boys Lacrosse will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
Dodgeball - Students will learn to play dodge ball in a variety of different ways. They will learn the basic rules of the game while staying active and healthy.Dodge ball will take place in the lower gym at Maltby Intermediate School. Students should be picked up directly from Maltby no later than 6P.
